This Pelsee S3 uses a lithium ion battery, not a supercapacitor. If you live in a hot climate, don't cry if you find your car in a smoldering heap of ashes. No one should be considering a dash cam without a supercapacitor in 2026 anymore.
Viofo. Been in the game a while and clear video of license plates and affordable. Their starvis 2 latest models with 1440p front cam (ignore marketing of 4k cams, most of them are 1440p upscaled to 4k anyway) and a 1080p rear will run you around $110-140. For liability purposes, really don't need a $300+ model. But you do end up in junk territory when you go sub $100.

What do P3 Pro users think about this? Is it a true 4k STARVIS 2 sensor this time? And it appears the mounting mechanism is suction cup vs static cling sticker + adhesive of the p3 pro.

What are your experiences with suction cup mounting in the heat? Does the rubber eventually melt/break down?
Assuming the Sony sensor is identical, seems the touch screen itself isn'tenough of an upgrade to be worth $20 over the P3 Pro on its usual sale unless the screen on this one is bigger. Although you do get a 128gb card instead of 64gb

I got 3 cars with Vantrue dash cams. 1 with adhesive, 2 with suction cups. Both suction cups fall off often. Never had issues with the adhesive mounted one. Definitely recommend adhesive stick mounting.

This is almost the same as the recent P1 Pro for $50.
Same screen size, only difference appears to be larger memory card, touch screen and suction cup mount.
I am very happy with my P1 Pro, easy to mount on the static cling sticker up behind the mirror. Good front and rear image.

What would you recommend as a great deal for one with a supercapacitor?

I doubt it has either at this price point. The similar P3 Pro without touchscreen doesn't have either.

No, it's still a 2.5k Starvis sensor that's being stretched. Any true 4K Starvis will say "IMX678" very prominently because it's a huge selling point. If it doesn't say that anywhere, assume it's only a 2.5K IMX675 sensor.
