Man, I just think people are either really stupid or really careless. Likely both.
How? I've owned mandolins my whole adult life and neither myself nor my wife have ever cut ourselves on them.

Every year, thousands show up in ER for cuts from kitchen knives. But relative to how many use it, way more show up for these mandolines. They're fundamentally unsafe.
At minimum, they should require they be sold with no-cut gloves. But even then, people constantly cut themselves when cleaning them. They're just not safe.

if you are gonna make a statement like that, please parse data that shows ER visits for knife cuts vs mandolin cuts. mandolins are safe IF YOU USE THEM CORRECTLY....just like any other kitchen utensil.
My take is that people are fundamentally stupid.
They aren't mutually exclusive. 😜
...I clean mine with a pot/pan brush and tooth brush.
