FYI these are mainly for aesthetics.
They won't do much for acoustic purposes.

Eh, that's false. It depends on your goals; they absolutely do reduce echoes. Obviously this won't do miracles and turn a room into a recording studio.

Well I did say "mainly" & "do much".

Sure maybe in an enclosed room with all hard surface(ie all concrete) walls, where people are talking normally.
Yes that may "soak up" THAT sound & find it may not echo any longer.

In my experience you don't need to buy these to do that for THAT sound.

Other than that, science says it's not going to do much acoustically for the many other frequency scenarios.

I would suggest reading the science behind it.
