That's all I used for a keurig machine I had for 10 years. Vinegar and diluted it with water to clean the machine. It finally broke two years ago and I got a new Keurig and cleaning it the same way.

it's 15% citric acid, the rest is water. can just buy citric acid and make your own concoction, if so inclined. I would be so inclined if the alternative was paying $7.50+ every three months (product page says this one 14oz bottle is good for 3 months, and you should do it every 3 months. this means almost 98% of the ingredients you are paying for is water. a 2lb bag of citric acid is $10 on amazon. decide how much work your time is worth.

I mix and a few teaspoons of citric acid in straight cleaning strength vinegar couple of times and then run some rinse cycles. keurig has been working good for 8 years now,, but could not get rid of the "groaning" sounds.

I haven't cleaned mine for a few years though I only use it twice a week or so. Would it be cheaper for me to just buy a mini keurig every few years instead of buying the cleaning solution to clean it?

I use the Urnex K-Cup Descaler. Much cheaper!

As others have suggested above, skip shelling out cash for Keurig descaler and make your own.

Since Keurig descaler is nothing more than citric acid and water, I add 2 tablespoons of food grade citric acid to a 16oz bottle (same size as Keurig's), fill it with water, shake until the citric acid is fully dissolved, pour it into the Keurig unit and start the descaling process. I've been doing this for over 8 years with absolutely no issues.

My last 2 pound bag of food grade citric acid cost about $15 and I'll get about 40 descaling cycles out of it for about $0.38 a cycle....much, much better than paying $7.50 or more per cycle.

Use distilled water and you will rarely need to descale. I go 10-12 months between descaling.
