Since Keurig descaler is nothing more than citric acid and water, I add 2 tablespoons of food grade citric acid to a 16oz bottle (same size as Keurig's), fill it with water, shake until the citric acid is fully dissolved, pour it into the Keurig unit and start the descaling process. I've been doing this for over 8 years with absolutely no issues.
My last 2 pound bag of food grade citric acid cost about $15 and I'll get about 40 descaling cycles out of it for about $0.38 a cycle....much, much better than paying $7.50 or more per cycle.
