Anyone used one? I ordered one to try to use to keep my ATV battery from getting ruined from sitting.

Hoping all of the components are weather resistant and it doesn't need to be in the car window

The panel is supposedly waterproof, I saw a picture of one permanently mounted to some sort of trailer. I'm assuming you would just need to wipe it off occasionally if you leave it outside.

I would love to know if anyone has used this to power the Eco-Worthy single-axis solar tracker.

I'm using this for my diesel van. It has 2 batteries and I drive it once every couple weeks. Before this device, I had to sometimes jump start it. Now it starts strong every time

I bought the 7.5W last year. It's been on a sitting battery and the clip broke easily for not much movement. It did corrode but the clip seems flimsy.

Current = Power ÷ Voltage = 10 W ÷ 12 V ≈ 0.83 amps

So a .83 amp trickle charger.

True, but you'll have to buy a generator or solar panels with a controller, battery and inverter to plug it into if you're away from power like the panel in this thread is designed for....... Or at least a super long extension cord........ nodBig Grin

Tried this on two different healthy cars for 1 week each and it actually drained the battery on both. Maybe I got a dud.

I tried getting this exact product a year ago and found that the solar panel output goes basically unregulated to the battery. That meant it was applying anywhere from 0 to like 18+ volts to the battery depending on sun conditions. Ecoworthy might know more than me about batteries, but I know the most basic no-no in all of electronics is applying too much voltage. Whether it would technically be bad for the car battery wasn't really worth the trouble of figuring out, so I returned it.

It's such little power that no, it doesn't matter.

Uhhh no. Not sure what made you think that but this uses a built in controller to regulate voltage down to battery charge levels.

Did you even test if it was generating anything?

I keep a 30 watt panel on my car since I can't plug anything in. It works great as long as it gets sun. You don't want to keep it behind car glass. Sometimes I run a camera in my car that draws the battery down.

Have an classic car, battery in the trunk. Drive it occasionally. Not sure if it's a small drain somewhere or what but if I go a few weeks without driving I have to jump/charge it and reprogram the electronics I have. Not fun if I unhook the battery or too long between drives.
Good/bad option to throw this in the rear window (inside), run it to the battery and keep it continuously hooked up?
