the 288v also has a 100% srgb 400 nit screen.
Acer certified refurb laptops marketed as "pristine, like-new condition" are practically new, based on my past experience.
They usually use a different language like "very good" or "slight wear and tear" for laptops that are in worse refurb condition. Example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/277798090257

This Acer Aspire 14 AI certified refurb stands out as a lightweight 14 inch laptop with a 1TB SSD, 16GB of RAM, and a fast Ultra 5 chip that feels basically new in use. The certified refurb grading is repeatedly described as pristine or like new, with battery health showing 100 percent in multiple reports. The screen is the main tradeoff, with the Ultra 5 panel described as around 65 percent sRGB and 300 nits, while the 2 year warranty helps offset concerns about display issues. Heavy preinstalled software is another annoyance, and a dented arrival shows condition can still vary.
College students needing a lightweight everyday laptop, because the 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD feel fast and the unit can arrive basically brand new.
People who want a bright 14-inch display, because the panel can measure 400 nits and look brighter than a 300-nit laptop screen.
Business email and local accounting work, because the Ultra 5 is more than sufficient for those tasks.
Buyers who want a clean setup out of the box, because the laptop can arrive with heavy Acer, Microsoft, and McAfee bloatware.
Gamers wanting a larger screen, because the 14-inch display may feel too small for play.
People who need a color-rich screen for visual work, because the Ultra 5 panel is around 65% sRGB and 300 nits.
Shoppers sensitive to cosmetic condition, because one unit arrived with a big dent at the bottom.

Downloaded O&O shutoff to improve privacy, and O&O AppBuster to remove all pre-installed apps. Just got select all, remove. I can always install then later if I find the need.
Battery health shows 100%, so pretty much new.
The bazel around the screen is a bit thicker than what I prefer, but can't complain at this price point.
I got a big dent at the bottom.
