Recently bought the 65" from Costco and I am blown away with the picture and response time! Unbelievable for the price. Highly recommend

The TCL QM6K stands out as a bright, budget friendly 4K mini LED TV with strong picture quality, quick response, and surprisingly decent built in sound. The 65 inch model gets praise for vivid colors, deep blacks, low glare in sunny rooms, and solid gaming performance, while the Costco QM6K Pro adds better reflection handling and a five year warranty. The main drawback is motion processing, which can show judder, blur, and trailing artifacts, especially in pans or against dark backgrounds. Firmware updates help some issues, but motion sensitive viewers may still find it frustrating. A strong value pick if motion handling is not your top priority.

people buying a 65" TCL for a bright living room because commenters say they got minimal glare and were impressed with the picture and response time for the price.
TenderSardine800 Generalpoopface
Costco members who want a large-screen deal with long coverage because commenters report the 98" (and 65" options) being $1500 shipped/installed with a 5-year warranty, and that the Costco price includes the extra warranty versus paying more elsewhere.
bjsguess cinematic6436
people who are not very motion-sensitive and mainly care about brightness/colors for movies and everyday viewing because commenters say the set is "awesome for the price" and will be great for people who are not sensitive to motion handling.
Forerunner343 Forerunner343
buyers who are willing to manually update firmware if needed because commenters report flickering being completely solved after updating the firmware to v321 via USB, while still loving the picture quality for the money.
ShieldsPC
Xbox players looking for a good-value gaming TV because one commenter specifically says they love the 65" from Costco, especially for playing Xbox, and that the sound is decent.

people who are sensitive to motion handling (judder/blur) because commenters say the out-of-the-box motion handling is "horrendous" or has "really bad judder," and even after firmware updates they couldn't tolerate it and returned it.
Forerunner343 Forerunner343
buyers who watch in a dark room with any front light source because commenters say the Pro's reflection handling is "truly awful," with rainbow refraction bands across the screen when there's a light source in front of the TV.
mark5hs
people who want the best reflection performance without paying for the Pro because commenters say the non-Pro reflection handling is much worse than the Pro, to the point that it can be "appalling" compared to the Pro's better glare handling.
ShieldsPC
buyers who need installation included at the listed price because commenters note that Costco's store price may be lower but can come with no installation and self pickup.

Common Questions (5)

Costco pricing is around $450-$500 for the 65-inch, and the purchase includes a 5-year warranty that would cost extra at Best Buy. Costco also has the 98-inch at $1,500 shipped and installed with a 5-year warranty, while the store price can be lower but without installation.
cinematic6436 cinematic6436 c137 MellowBelieve5830
Yes. The Costco QM6K Pro uses the QM7K/QM8K-style CrystGlow panel, which is reported to handle reflections and glare significantly better than the regular QM6K/QM5K panel. The regular QM6K can be much worse in bright rooms, while the Pro is still best suited to darker setups.
JollyAction1176 ShieldsPC cinematic6436 mark5hs
A manual firmware update can improve problems like motion handling and flickering, but it may not fully eliminate judder for motion-sensitive viewers. The TV is still described as strong on brightness, colors, blacks, and blooming after updating.
Forerunner343 Forerunner343 ShieldsPC Forerunner343
If smooth motion is a priority, the QM6K can be a poor fit because it has been described as having bad judder, blur, and trailing artifacts, especially with people moving against dark backgrounds. For viewers who are not sensitive to motion, it is still considered a strong value.
Forerunner343 Forerunner343 Forerunner343 Forerunner343
The 65-inch is described as impressive for the money, with bright picture quality, deep colors and blacks, minimal blooming, and decent built-in speakers. It also reportedly handles glare well in a sunny living room, though many owners still use a soundbar.

Couple of notes on this set. I had the 55" version and ended up returning it. I am sensitive to motion handling, and out of the box, the motion handling on this set is horrendous. I did a manual update to the firmware via thumb and the motion handling improved a lot, but I still could not tolerate it. So, I returned it and bought the 55" Panasonic Z85 which was more expensive, but I don't think I would have been satisfied with any set under $500 (I paid $400 for the QM6K).

That being said, there is plenty to love about this TV. With the exception of motion handling, this TV has it all. The blooming is not noticable, it's plenty bright and the colors and blacks are deep and full like an OLED. Most people will love this set, but if you want good motion handling, look elsewhere.

Which store locations? By me I'm seeing $1999

Costco in-store vs online typically have a $200 price difference for large TVs due to shipping and installation.

With the QM6K, it has really bad judder. This is where image processing is really important and why updating the TCL firmware has an impact. It's mostly noticable to me with the TCL when people are walking around or heads are moving, especially against a dark background. There is some blur and trailing artifacts, even with all motion and clarity settings off. I spent 60 days with this TV trying to resolve the issues with poor motion handling, because I really love everything else about this set, but ultimately, TCL has some work to do on their image processing. Honestly, it is an awesome set for the price point, and like I said before, it will be great for people who are not sensitive to motion handling. If you are interested, my advice would be to give it a try, but be prepared to return it if you are not satisfied.
