While convenient, this is still too expensive. You could buy 300ah (3x this capacity) of 12v LifePo4 batteries for less than this and supply that power to the C1000 Gen 1 (or Gen 2 for that matter) via the solar input. I'd be interested if this got to $200.

What wiring is needed to do this ? I have the C2000 and 2 spare 300 ah batteries would love to use occasionally to do this .

You would need a battery terminal connection on one end (the black and red wire with loops to be secured to the terminal screws) and on the other end a xt60i connector (you could get by with a xt60 connector) on the other end in a length and gauge that works for your setup. 10gauge wire under 30 feet should work. It took a charge from my 400ah lifepo4 battery using this setup during the snowstorms in January. Link to the one on amazon I have used https://a.co/d/00hWP6rl

Crazy that these aren't compatible across even slightly different product lines, let alone near-universally. When are we getting the equivalent of USB-C for battery backups?

Given the cheap price of a 12.8v 100Ah/1280Wh battery (~$150), what are the disadvantages of going that route? Main ones I can see are having to wire it yourself (not a big deal, plenty of kits and tutorials), charging those batteries (I assume they'd have to be disconnected and hooked to a secondary source, so very not automatic, but doable), and primarily, can it actually keep up if the main battery's drained in a longer power outage? That last point seems to be the critical one, if it's not going to be able to power enough devices/appliances the extra capacity is less useful. I assume it'd just be feeding the main battery during periods of less drain, so I'd have to be cautious of running high wattage devices and letting the main battery dip below a baseline level, because the trickle from the solar input would be limited and might require time to refill the main device.

So what voltage/wattage do those batteries output? Oh and where did you get them because I'm seeing $400-800 unless you got it from Temu and that just seems dangerous.

Anyone know of a good compatibility chart? I'm never clear which expansions go with what solar battery system.

I have this, it is pretty straightforward plug and play.
