From the reviews it appears there is no local setup. You have to connect to some cloud service. :-/

Heads up! This can also function as a thread border router to control your matter devices!

If I didn't just upgrade my network, I'd pounce on this

Got last one in Tigard, OR
I was literally looking at it yesterday for $399 and needed one. Glad that I waited until today. Thanks OP

great deal but theyre getting banned.
They would not be banned for use, just for sale. That said, firmware updates may be an issue.

"Current TP-Link owners face no mandates to replace devices, but firmware updates for pre-ban models are waived only until March 1, 2027, after which they may cease. Retailers can sell stocked pre-ban inventory, but future TP-Link upgrades will require US-made alternatives if no waiver is granted."

Is this a good deal for someone with 400 mbps internet who only uses Wifi 6 and has no plans for wifi 7 for the next few years. Most devices are legacy Wifi 5 or wifi 6 based, so Wifi 7 wouldn't really help.
Are there any other mesh based solutions which might do Wifi 6 only, but can be purchased for less than $100? Thanks in advance.
This one is only a little more with a ton of favorable reviews. It's what I run and it has worked well.

from my 10-years experience, most firmware updates on routers just mess things up.

Went to the Costco like 10 minutes after they opened and all gone. But I walked around and found a guy that had 3 in his cart. I asked him about them and offered to buy one off him, he said nah you can take one.
Thanks bro!

You're buying the wrong routers.

you cannot find a tri-band wifi 6 mesh for $100, let alone wifi 7; you may see dual-band wifi 6 mesh system for under $100, but they wouldn't have 4 2.5 Gbps ports on each unit.
