Depends. Gaming, production or both? if you want a platform with longevity and with great gaming performance, go with AMD. If you want the best overall value/ balanced performance right now, go with Intel. The biggest issue with AM5 Ryzens is that they are absurdly overpriced in terms of performance/cost ratio. For example, a Ryzen 9600x is usually just under $200 but for $200, you can get an Ultra 5 250KF Plus which literally runs circles around that Ryzen as the Ultra 5 250KF Plus is closer to a Ryzen 9900x which is almost twice the price as the Intel.
You will get much better bang for your buck with Intel chips, especially the new Intel Core Ultra Plus line. The big issue with Intel though is that they change sockets too often so upgrade paths are limited. Of course none of that pertains to this AM4 cpu which is likely the best budget chip for AM4.

My issue with AMD is the majority of their CPUs lack integrated graphics - fine if you're building a gaming PC with a standalone graphics card, but useless for repurposing as anything else after its gaming days are over, unless you're leveraging the GPU for something; otherwise the GPU is taking up a valuable slot that's better occupied by a multi-port NIC or HBA expansion card for home labbing. I've also found AMD processors to be finicky with RAM. Perhaps there's a better upgrade platform for AMD processors, but IMO the vast majority of systems never receive a CPU upgrade.

In either case, this deal appears to be dead. If you have a Microcenter nearby and are interested in an AMD CPU based system, they have some great combo deals going on right now, including one with this processor, RAM, and a motherbaord (choice of ATX or mATX) for $200.

I would add that IF you have a "non" windows 11 cpu (IE 1600x and other first gen am4 cpu's) and want to upgrade to win 11 this shiould do it..

Yes but that won't make any difference in performance. Pcie 3.0 has no problems running upto an rtx 3080 or rtx 4060 which is what this cpu is ever gonna get paired with.
