I think the Bambu suggestions are silly here. It's not that the A1/A1mini aren't great models, it's just that if you are budget limited to say around $100 the BL printers are 2-4x that price. Not the same ball park. Conversely, the FF 5M is much closer and honestly, for single color, is just such a good printer.
My take on this printer is, it's older tech but still not a bad printer even for a novice. Were it not for a lot of very compelling deals around $150-250 I wouldn't hesitate to suggest this as a first time printer. It's not Ender 3 Pro slow, perhaps half way between the old Ender 3 and the modern FF. Contrary to claims by people who think this is the same thing as an Ender 3 Pro, this does have full bed leveling and auto Z offset. The bed level is fixed (unless you want to get out the tools). Having gotten used to USB and/or network access to the printer, the SE's use of an SD card seems really old fashion (funny what's considered "old fashion" in 3D printers). The interface screen is limited but honestly works well. My biggest issues with the printer was I had to adjust the Z-offset when I changed from the factory PC to a PEI build plate. Other than speed and having to use the SD card to load files, it's really not a bad printer and can do some decent work so long as you stick with PLA and other entry level materials.

However, one other big issue is Creality Ebay refurbs. Lots of stories about people getting something less than "refurbished". I have to admit I've purchased two printers from them. The Ender 3 S1 Pro was not as described. I was expecting "for parts" and I got "new in box, never assembled". Basically for a stupidly low price at the time I got a new printer. The second was my K1max. It did looked like a reasonable "used a few times, returned" deal. It included everything and worked nicely. The only "issue" was a slight rub mark on the build plate that can be seen on prints. However, your luck may be different. If these were new condition for this price I think I would say, "good starter printer". Not sure given the risks with "refurb". Is a bad print because the V3SE is bad or just you got a bad model?
Pro: auto leveling, easy to replace parts, parts are cheap. Just replace the print bed with a $12 textured print bed (comgrow) from Amazon before you start printing.
Con: you have to load print file on a sd-card and walk it over to the printer to print the file. If you are a beginner, maybe set up the 3d printer in your office before you decide to leave it printing 24/7 in a different room. Some people are sensitive to sound so watch some YouTube videos of the fan noise.
Some advice for beginners:
1) the print bed is already magnetic. Do not place an adhesive magnetic print bed add-on.
2) do a "z offset" test to adjust your printer setting right away.
3) enable z jump in cura
