The DJI Flip stands out as a compact 4K drone that is fun to fly and easy to use, with live view through the RC N3 controller, a pop out phone holder, and USB C connection. The camera is described as matching the Mini 4 Pro and the picture quality is praised, while palm control and automated moves like Follow, Dronie, Circle, and Rocket add hands free flexibility. It also handles moderate winds around 8 to 12 mph, though stiff winds are a weak point. The deal price moved around after a coupon and a cancelled order, but the drone itself is seen as a strong value at this level.
The controller setup supports live view by using a pop-out phone holder with a USB-C cable connection to the app.
The DJI Flip can be flown in moderate winds around 8 to 12 mph without being limited to calm conditions.
The battery can be charged while it remains in the drone using a USB-C cable and a separate charging brick.
Palm Control enables hands-free takeoff and landing from a hand, along with automated maneuvers like Follow and Dronie.
Stiff winds are not recommended for flying the DJI Flip, which can limit outdoor use in gusty conditions.
A purchase attempt can fail when the seller cancels the order, which disrupts checkout plans.
The deal price may require coupon timing because the price can rise to $439 before a $70 coupon is applied.
Live view range can be shorter when relying on the drone with the app alone, compared with using the controller connection.
