The design of this irritates me so much, why on Earth would you not make it fold to where it line up and fold perfectly in the midpoint of the handles?

I have one like this but it might be a couple inches shorter. I like it for cutting things like fence or metallic clad electrical wire but it won't cut through a lock you lost the key for or a 1/4inch and larger bolt. This might be longer than mine so be aware. Other than that it's great.

This confirms what I thought. For a truck bug out kit I'll wait for the 18" version to go on sale.

I'm guessing it balances the center of mass better and would make it more intuitive to grab and carry

Folding the handle and keeping the same strength would cost more money (materials, machine, time) and add width. Folding or extending handles are not good under pressure.

Good grief. Look at the reviews first.

Yes the 1 stars are a train wreck. I think I got mine at a box store so even though they look the same way better quality. Still can't cut through bigger size packlocks or bolts. The TSA kind of lock in the review picture yes of course.

What's the real use case here? How often does it matter if a bolt cutter is small?
