The Eufy SoloCam E30 kit stands out as a solar powered wireless camera setup that is easy to place where running wires is impractical, such as an apartment balcony, shed, or temporary mount. The cameras and solar charging are described as working well, and the Homebase setup can record locally. The main tradeoffs are app reliability and wireless security concerns, since the app can crash and Wi Fi based cameras can be disrupted. The fixed solar panel also limits placement in shaded spots, making it a practical fit when flexibility matters more than hardwired reliability.
Common Questions (5)
Yes. These solar Wi‑Fi cameras are a good fit when you cannot run power lines, such as an apartment balcony, shed, or temporary mount. The built-in solar panel reduces battery hassle, but shaded locations are a poor fit because the panel needs sun.
It can reduce battery swapping because the solar panel keeps the cameras charged, making it a practical replacement for battery-heavy setups. The higher upfront price is the main tradeoff, so it makes the most sense when battery maintenance is the bigger pain point.
Recording, detection, and tracking can work without a subscription fee when the cameras are connected to HomeBase 2 for local recording. The practical tradeoff is that cloud-style app access and remote features are more limited than a subscription-based system.
The camera and solar charging can work well, but the app can crash regularly during playback. One reported issue is that trying to watch three or more recorded events from the night before may crash after the second clip, which can prevent viewing all recordings.
Yes, a gutter-mount bracket can position the camera high and keep the solar panel in the sun, which is especially useful for single-story setups. That kind of mount can also work with similar wireless cameras.

my reolink with a hard drive in a safe was a much larger investment that would be ridiculous for some folks.
I guess my point is, these are hot sellers ( just solar wifi cams in general ) for a good reason even if they don't fit our needs.

Also poe suffers during a power outage. You would need a good UPS/battery if the power is out for longer than a few minutes.
The total cost you of just 4 hardwired cameras and local storage unit is 1k. I have teleco ran for work and if you want a professional look your looking at 600 to 1k dollars per Running based on the location. Now a battery that size you need at least 2000WH for a dew hrs which is going to coat 600.
These are $300 you can add a homebase which is 150 but not required. The ups for the homebase cost far less because it doesnt use a lot of power so $400 for 1000WH
