Do these have to hooked up to power? I only have a driveway light that's powered. Is this something I can stick onto a fence?

Eufy cams have worked pretty well for me, especially these variants with solar panels. Only problem I have with these compared to other models with a wired solar panel as opposed to these affixed is you cannot really place the cameras in a shaded location. With the cable panels, you can have the cameras wherever and just route cables for the panel to some open area.

Wireless "security" cameras is like having carpet in the bathroom. It's a terrible idea. Anyone with a FlipperZero or an app on their phone can disrupt the feed frequency. If you're spending this time and money, just wire it for crying out loud. Spend money on a PoE and don't use cloud subscriptions. Done.
agreed, but VERY dependent on user expectations. These could be mounted temporary for any number of uses like an apartment balcony or where running wires isnt something you have permission to do, or a shed where its an acceptable compromise. Running lines might be easy for some but for many it would be a task they would need to hire out and that's a huge factor. $300 and an hours worth of work buys a lot here.
my reolink with a hard drive in a safe was a much larger investment that would be ridiculous for some folks.
I guess my point is, these are hot sellers ( just solar wifi cams in general ) for a good reason even if they don't fit our needs.

Does the recording, detection and tracking work without a subscription fee? And how long can the recordings be? The blink system I have can record without a subscription, but for recognition a subscription is needed and recording time is very short.

I own these cams and I actually agree. If someone is planning on breaking in, expect them to use some sort of jammer to wipe your WiFi. It's common practice now and a FlipperZero isn't that expensive nor do you need a ton of knowledge to use one. For basic surveillance, these are great but if you're actually trying to prevent a break-in, these will most likely be bypassed.
I don't think these are designed for hi-tech robberies. It's designed to see if my neighbors dog is pooping in my yard or stealing parcels from my home etc....

is the costco one better?
E30 is 2k one lens $75(this deal of 4), s340 is 3k 2 lens $100(costco sale), s4 is 4k 3 lens is $300. S4 you could hard wire and have continuous recording too... with current price range e30 vs s3 are comparable given you could even get a single s3 vs a pack of four in this deal.

I have a Eufy solar camera. The camera itself works great. Unfortunately the app crashes regularly. If u try to watch three or more recorded events/movement from the night before, the app crashes after the second one- meaning I can't see all rhe recordings. Bummer because the camera and solar charging work well otherwise.
I don't have this issue. Consider deleting the app and reinstalling. I use in iPhone no issues. I do have a home base 3.

Wifi has encrypted encoding signals. Even when you get those by emulating or jamming, it takes many years to decode.

All cameras wired or not are a deterrent. Cameras cant stop anyone who want to steal your shit. Also spending thousands vs $300 is a big difference.

Also poe suffers during a power outage. You would need a good UPS/battery if the power is out for longer than a few minutes.

The total cost you of just 4 hardwired cameras and local storage unit is 1k. I have teleco ran for work and if you want a professional look your looking at 600 to 1k dollars per Running based on the location. Now a battery that size you need at least 2000WH for a dew hrs which is going to coat 600.

These are $300 you can add a homebase which is 150 but not required. The ups for the homebase cost far less because it doesnt use a lot of power so $400 for 1000WH

Same, we have home base 2 and no crashes on iOS and android. Really happy with Eufy, especially since there's no subscription.

Consider s340 from Costco $100, 3k multi camera. I feel is much better that e30.
Having a couple of both, I concur with your statement...

I recently bought the e42 but have not set up yet. Would this be better for the price?
