I like the 850 better. Haven't personally used the 860 but it is a bit larger, heavier, and stronger.
I haven't run in to much the 850 can't do, it easily removes properly torqued lug nuts on a small car (100-ish ft-lbs). Not saying you should regularly do lugs, just saying the 850 has the oomph to do it. Anything larger than this can do and I just use an impact wrench.

860 bare tool is $96 at woot. I prefer this 850 combo personally.

Posted in the 860 thread, but I like the 850 better for household chores as it's smoother and more compact. Then get a 921 or 923 for heavier nut/bolt jobs if you need it, IMO. And this is a smokin deal.

The only reason to get the 860 is if you regularly drive beefy lag bolts. Otherwise the smaller, lighter tool is the way to go.
For furniture/etc assembly, I personally prefer an even smaller 12v driver. Too easy to overtorque with a 20v kit. (But if you only have one, 20v is the way to go— 12v isn't really up to the task for deck/framing screws).

Does anybody know what the differences are between DCF850E1 (this posting) and DCF850P1 (another DCF850 on spring Black Friday) ??
The only thing I can spot is, this battery is 1.7Ah vs the other being 5Ah

That's the only difference. Just the battery the tool comes with.
