FYI, plastic case and reviews say LEDs don't tell you link speed. That said, it's cheap and reviewers also say it works fine.

Keep in mind you don't have to upgrade your whole network to use this. If you connect some 2.5G devices to this switch, they will talk to each other at 2.5G, even if the rest of your network is only 1G.
My PCs and my NAS have 2.5G NICs, and talk to each other at that speed, while the rest of the network is only 1G. I'm still using my 6-year-old 1G router.

Great to see multi-gig coming down in price. Still, I prefer metal casing when possible.

Good price from a reliable brand. Personally I've been switching to the Ubiquiti 5 Flex Mini 2.5 because form factor, PoE in, and it's managed.

How's the performance on this? Does it get hot?

I've been looking at the BrosTrend ones that seem to get good reviews on servethehome. I just installed the S1-V2 8port for the metal case, $66 (coupon price vs normal $78). So far so good.

Same, however for the plug and play crowd may be overkill. I am concerned that my main Flex mini flaked out a bit when my room temp inadvertently got to 80F. Point is heat could be an issue for any of these plastic passive cooled models.

This is pretty cheap for 2.5 gb. However, the Ubiquiti 2.5gb switch is $20 more and has the ability to be powered over poe. I would consider both.

I'm surprised switches still cost this much. I guess it's mostly the throughput?
