I was one of those people. No one will replace it. To return the unit, you either have to drop it off at a fedex shipping center (not a standard store) or have FedEx schedule a pickup 2-3 business days in advance.

Bought this "refurb" last year and received a new unit. Very nice for the price.

be aware multiple people are reporting not receiving all the accessories included in these refurbs, check the parts list in the instruction manual to be sure.

I thought units like these were not fixable once they stop working

Bought this last time it came up (I think even at $240)

All has been well so far. I think I was missing the "air divider" to attach at the end of the hose or got an updated piece instead.

I have one. Dual hose is the way to go, though 'portable' is a bit generous. These things weigh a ton and have the flimsiest, most stupidly designed plastic parts for attaching to the window, that they'll likely break and you'll have to fix something yourself with screws and latches. I did all this because I was using it for my office on the first floor and didn't feel comfortable leaving it set up in the window permanently for security reasons.

Still, beats having a hot room. And if you're on a second floor and don't mind leaving it attached permanently, it's not a bad solution.

I got one when last time the deal showed up. It worked well for me had some smell though. One adopter, to adopt the hose to horizontal/vertical window was missing. I had to tweak the hose by 90 degrees to make it work for my sliding window. Not recommended by the instructions but it worked. Other accessories were in the package. Contacted Media via Walmart and they're quite responsive and the missing part is already on its way. No complaints from me considering the price, and it worked well for me for my 550 sqft studio room. Not perfect but good enough

I guess that's why it's listed as "restored"...

I took mine back to a walmart store. the person at the return counter tried to tell me they wouldn't accept it without a box. I asked for a manager. the manager said the same. I said I don't see that in the terms and conditions on the web site, that things need to be returned in their original box. the manager then moved on to "well we can't issue you a refund until we get a box and ship it." I accepted that and got a receipt. the refund showed up as a pending charge the next day on my credit card.

I also bought this refurbished a while back. Mine was essentially new. It works great, I have it in my garage which is mostly insulated and below living space, and two hot cars in the summer made it consistently 90 degrees in there first thing in the morning, just no good way to dump the heat. This solves the problem, I have it automatically start around bedtime set to about 77-78 and it makes the living space above noticeably more comfortable.

When I took mine in to a Walmart, they said they cannot accept it (even with the box) because 1) they do not accept market place items 2) fed ex does not come to pick up items. The manager had to call fed ex. I took it to a regular FedEx and they said because it has the hazard sign on the box- they cannot accept it. Worst return experience ever.

Could anyone with this let me know the diameter of the hose? I have an idea about putting through my fireplace cleanout.

If you are referring to returning it to Walmart then I had to do an in store return last time. They would not do a FedEx shipping label. What online.com says is the final decision for methods of return. Or are you referring to returning to midea?

I didn't have any missing accessories. I just changed my mind on my second unit. Make sure your unit can run and remove the condensate property. My unit and many others have a broken slinger fan and you will have constant p2 errors. You will know within the first day of running it if it happens. Worse on super hot and humid days. it is on the heater/cooling unit.

I have one of these refurbs from Walmart and it is working great.
