a fair observation regarding price value, but in terms of pill count, it comes down to the trade-off between elemental density and bioavailability. Magnesium oxide is popular in cheap supplements because it is dense--you can pack a high amount of elemental magnesium into a small pill. The trade-off, however, is poor absorption and potential osmotic laxative effects. High-quality, chelated forms like the ones used in this Chelamax formula (or Albion's TRAACS) are significantly less dense by weight--hence the low % and high pill count. It is essentially a choice between taking more capsules for superior absorption or fewer capsules for poor absorption and digestive upset. Personally, I would take the extra two pills for the chelated form over the oxide version any day...

malic acid isn't a stimulant like caffeine, so it doesn't cancel out or interfere with the calming effects of glycine. They're just doing two different jobs. Malic acid is involved in the krebs cycle and ATP production, sure...but guess what? so is magnesium. It's just supporting cellular energy, not acting as an energizer that blocks sleep. Glycine works on a completely different pathway to reduce neuronal excitability. You're looking at two totally different biological systems that don't interfere with each other

Exactly, 4 pills on top of other supplements? Forget that! Ends up only lasting for 30 days.

Trying to get two of these for my May S&S, but it keeps trying to send it for my April one. Hopefully the deal is still active tomorrow.

I also do microdosing of supplements since I already eat a pretty good diet. So 1-2 pills of this would be a decent amount of magnesium for me per night.

Editor's notes say the company has been around for awhile with 7.9k customer reviews in the past 12 months. The product page said this was first available February 13, 2026, but Rufus history shows this product started selling March 7th, 2026. It has 22 reviews with 21 of them being Vine provided.

I really like the whole line from Sports Research.

Want to see how much you save here- go to Target. The pricing on these Sports Research products are why Target is "going out of business".

Your next trip make a point to look in their vitamin aisle and you will understand. Wait long enough and you find most products on the clearance end caps because of their poor business model and product selection.

Well said, but when I said magnesium supplements I was speaking of "chelated" versions. They are still 2 pill serving size, for .07-.08 a pill.

This is a better quality for absorbtion like you said but as I take every night, the standard chelated magnesium does great for my sleep and muscle recovery, and gentle on GI tract. Plus I am a cheap ass, twice as expensive for same results is a no.
