Nope. Teardown shows it's an integrated USB controller board with memory embedded, not an M.2 NVMe.

Lexar is meh but if you really need one it should do the job. Just dont trust it with any sensitive or irreplaceable data.

How does this drive compare to the more reputable offerings like the Samsung t9 4tb or crucial x10 8tb?

Remember when $30 a TB was normal for months and months? Now we have advanced to the stage where $80 a TB is a steal! And my dumbass was like, let's wait. It can get lower...

I have a 2tb Lexar SL500 and it is fine. I also have the 8tb Crucial X10 and it has been fantastic. I will say that I bought the Crucial in mid November last year at $385 and would not even consider it at it's current pricing. The Lexar was purchased to replace a Samsung T9 2tb that I returned as defective due to frequent, random disconnections from the same USB-C port I use the other SSDs on without issue. I would not hesitate to purchase another Lexar SL500 or Crucial X10 when/if the prices come down to a more reasonable level. The Crucial reads faster on my PC than the Lexar but not significantly so but during longer write sessions there is a reasonable difference in speed.

That was a wonderful time.

I bundled a 512GB Galaxy S24 Ultra with a 4TB 990 Evo for ~$800 direct from Samsung, not including cash back.

Looks like RAM & SSDs outperformed pretty much everything in the stock market though 😅

Knowing the prices will tighten up more on drives, and I want to get a decent sized small backup drive, this will be helpful.Trust me - I hate the price increases on drives. But until this AI bubble bursts (maybe 3Q of next year for a short time), there is a huge shortage of all storage - both HDD (52 week lead time) and SSD. Even flash drives are climbing.
Q3 next year? Why so far off? There's a lot happening to suggest the process has already started - cancelled projects etc, which can be found on YouTube.

My gut feeling suggests it may burst Q3 of this year - and that will be great for humanity.

I think this is a great deal and reviews look good so ordered one. Why isnt this getting more traction? Is there something wrong with the drive? I ordered one - too good to pass.
Lexar makes SD cards, but they're not really known for SSDs, so that might affect folks wanting to drop $320 on it.

People who use laptops aren't serious about power anyway (and arguably, people who sell out to Apple aren't serious either). I'm pleased to find that most desktop motherboards now include both, even though it could have gone the other direction since the USB spec failed to demand backward compatibility. Labeling is now streamlined into identifying speed, so don't just hunt for the 2x2 spec: you're looking for USB with 20 Gbps which can only be Gen 2x2.
Sure bro
