I wonder if this motherboard I can undervolt in bios the 285 to use 35w...saw 14900k can use a 35w mode and surprisingly good performance for such a low wattage:

I got an open box at MC for same price but mine came with a 9800x3d with this card which is better than Intel CPU for gaming.

Anyone know why the Intel Ultra 9 285 build was $50 less than the Intel i9-14900F one? The 285 is newer than the 14900F and outperforms the 14900F in both single and multi thread benchmarks.

yeah, the ultra 9 285 is the better choice if all the other components are the same quality.
cheaper and doesn't have the degradation issues 13/14th gen had, runs cooler with less power consumption too if I remember correctly.

I think he's referring to the instability and degradation issues of Intel's Raptor Lake CPUs [pcworld.com] (13/14 Generation of Intel Core i processors). The Intel Core i9-14900F CPU on this PC is on the list of CPUs with a higher chance [cpu-monkey.com] of melted pins on the CPU crashing the computer.
