Essentially: yes.

If you have corrosion between the terminal and the ring, this spray is not going to emulsify corrosion down to a thin enough liquid to wash away. There'll still be corrosion in the contact area. You will very likely still need a terminal brush too. This thing's SDS(https://www.nkfr.org/wp-content/u...leaner.pdf) shows butane and propane. They are both propellants (so it gets out of the spray) but also in support for evaporation. No doubt it has water and propanol in it, so these gasses help dry these wetters but they require quite a bit of air exposure too. Keeping the ring on will risk leaving the contact surface slightly wet, just to get corroded again shortly.

Just in time. My Prius yellow top battery busted and spill acid around the compartment. I am hoping this will clean up the area.

I'd just cover the terminals with dielectric grease, or something else if you already have it! Want to keep the moisture away after she's clean!

Old timers put grease on them. Its messy so they sell cans of thin blue paint made for this. I use at least some dry silicon spray or spray white lithium grease on them. It's not required but keeps corrosion from happening. The red green washers help also that go under the terminals. You can spray over them as you coat the metal. BTW the chemical mess after you use this or baking powder should not get into the battery like if it has caps try not get it inside. This mess will stain your driveway and sometimes slowly eat exposed metal so it's good to wash it off where the drippings don't stay on your driveway. It's worse than oil stains those brown acid stains that I still have many years later. Car wash low pressure rinse for the win.

You don't have to, but if you want to do the job right you should disconnecting the terminals that way it cleans every bit of it And follow the directions on cleanup. then come in with those green and red fuzzy washers for batteries and a little bit of that electrical. Grease For the terminals before you put the wires clamps back on, you can get a small packet of it. That's how you do it the proper way.
