You can't buy four of these. They limit you to ten cans. Other items are available for that promo though.

IMHO, Bush's are MUCH better... and they regularly are $1/can or less at Publix.

Heads up. Look at the reviews. I got 10 and all but 2 were dented so badly I didn't feel safe eating them. I did some research on dented cans first. I got a refund for 8.

i had no problem ordering 4 just now (it gave me option upto 6). It might be regional limits or just availability at any given moment

I bought these during the last sale. They're OK, but Trader Joe's canned black beans are better.

PedroR, sometimes you want canned beans that can be prepared quickly. It's good to have a shelf-stable protein ready to go without a wait.

  • Because they are not cooked.
  • Some people are homeless and only have a phone, amazon prime, and a can opener.
  • Requires hours to cook.
  • Food safety; canned beans are sterile and safer.
  • Requires significant amounts of water to clean/cook.
  • Increased digestability due to the way it was cooked.

2 tablespoons oil, quarter onion, 1 jalapeño or serrano. Fry until toasted, add beans and salt to taste and mash. 👌

While I agree with you on most of these, it's pretty stupid to say canned beans are safer and that they have greater digestibility. Unless you're terrible at cooking beans, rinsing and boiling makes them just as safe as as canned, and a cooked bean is a cooked bean after you rinse them.

I would counter a couple of other points if you have an electric pressure cooker (Instant Pot), but I realize not everyone has one.

I say this as someone who buys both canned and dry beans all the time. I use canned for pretty much everything that isn't chili which, since I tend to cook 8qt at a time and prefer slow-cooking, I use dry.
