These used to have Samsung 25R cells, now they use EVE 25P cells that get much hotter than the Samsung cells. These packs are all parallel wired so each cell need to provide the sauce or they overheat.
The older version of these packs with the plastic battery level button are what you want. Newer packs will not run a chainsaw or a mower without getting too hot. Saw triggers an over current and shuts off.

The 4Ah and 5Ah on the same page are also on sale.
If you have any 80v Greenworks devices there are mods you can make to this battery to make them fit.
But do at your own discretion

I assume these cannot be used for blower where the battery is smaller. Correct me if I am wrong.
If the voltage is the same (80V) the battery capacity doesnt matter as the pack from a 2.5 vs 2.0 are the same in dimension. Even the 5.0/6.0 pack will work in the blower, just stick out a bit. They clip on the sides further down.

Any of the 80V Kobalt batteries can be used in any of the 80V Kobalt tools. However, performance may differ. This battery should work perfectly in an 80V blower, but might not perform as well in an 80V chainsaw.

It looks identical to my 5 year old Greenworks blower battery that I bought from Costco. What modifications are needed?

You'll have to cut new grooves with a table saw. If you're comfortable doing that, go ahead, just don't set the blade height too high and nick the batteries inside.

remove battery first (torx security screws i think)
I have this. If my lawn isn't too tall, I can probably squeeze out a mow + blow anything off the lawn + trim with the Kobalt trimmer on a better this size. If the lawn is tall, I'd need to bump up to the next size.

I believe he's referring to the ones that have the label ULTIMATE OUTPUT, look at the 4ah stock images and you'll see the difference. FWIW the ultimate output ones definitely improve the experience with the mower when you are cutting through thick grass. The 2 and 2.5ah I have will bog down while the 4ah and 5ah power though it.

The 5ah shows both ultimate output and plastic button.
