This game seems to have a bad rep. FWIW, I played it on Playstation (free, part of ps plus) and I enjoyed it. An enjoyable time to be had for $7. No idea if the PC port of this game is bad.
To me this game was the platonic ideal of "fine." The mechanics all worked, the graphics are good. The dialogue is dumb but it's pretty short and doesn't overstay. It's a fine game.

Same for me on Xbox, I really liked the mechanics and story. I have spent a lot more for a lot less than this game. Not sure how well it would translate to keyboard but grab a controller and go

"The dialogue is dumb" is an understatement. The VO is great but all the "earth" language (lots of cussing and American dialect in a fantasy realm) makes it every line sound really stupid. And why there are characters with earth accents is beyond me.
Everything else is excellent. It might need a serious rig to run it on highest settings and it does need some optimizing, but overall it's a great story and game.

Played it on pc like 2 years ago and paid more. It ran fine. People think every game needs to be revolutionary or else its a copy and paste of something else. For this price its a steal for those who like story based aingle player games.

Looks like it runs on Unreal Engine 5, which can be hit or miss depending on how well the developer optimizes their configuration.
The good thing about Unreal Engine that many people don't realize is that even if the developer drops the ball, you can tweak it yourself: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki...s_of_Aveum
There's probably a good amount of mods available as well.

Played on my PC with rtx 4080 couple years ago, this game had huge performance issues with random lag at random times. It was wasn't optimized properly when it first launched. So, I stopped playing due to disappointment. After it was available for free in the PlayStation via PS Plus, I tried it again and it ran fine. Not sure, if they optimized for PC afterwards.
I had the game through EA at the time but I don't think steam version would be any different from EA version in terms of performance. Hopefully, they optimized the a while ago.
I remember almost buying this three years ago because it was the first "AAA" game to use Unreal Engine 5. Glad I didn't.
A ton of amazing UE5 games have come out since then (Expedition 33, Stalker 2, Cronos, Black Myth: Wukong, Metal Eden, Fortnite), to name a few that I've played.

yea I eventually set the voice volume to zero on metroid prime 4, I hope that's an option here too.
Primary concern with the deluxe version are the extra booster items/equipment. Several reviews mention that if you lose internet connectivity, it desyncs the deluxe version from your game/save and removes the items until it can sync again. Once it resyncs, it adds all the items back into your inventory, but at level 1. So if you upgraded any of the deluxe edition items, you lose that progress.
The problem here is that the game requires an EA account, so it doesn't have to be your internet connection, it could simply be EA's shit servers.
I thoroughly enjoyed the demo, don't understand the EA account requirement though. I really wish Valve would stop this nonsense. If I buy it on Steam, I shouldn't need a second launcher/account to play.
