Aren't all these products(you add to the gas tank) a waste of money and don't actually do anything?
Yes. Most modern direct injection engines will not clean with this as the fuel never touches the intake valves. Engines with port injection will have fuel cleaning them and not need cleaned unless you have some serious problems.
One needs to understand a little bit about valve cleaning to see why this product is next to useless. Your typical valve with years of carbon deposits will have to be SOAKED in cleaning solution for hours for the deposit to start dissolving. Another approach, which works 100%, the valve needs to be blasted with a soft abrasive product like crushed walnut shells. If anyone believes that 150ml of anything dissolved in 56,781ml of gas (15 gallons) will do anything to your valves - good luck.

Yes and no. If you're trying to use it to clean dirty intake valves on a direct injection engine, then yes, total waste.
If it is an older vehicle with port injection, AND you're using poor quality fuel that doesn't have much detergent in it, then it might be useful. But if you use top tier fuel on a regular basis, probably not doing to do much.
And, even with direct injection, if you use non-top tier fuel, running this once every few thousand miles will help keep injectors slightly cleaner. Enough to fix a dirty injector, or fix a problem if one is already there? Probably not, but maybe enough to keep it from getting very dirty.

Valvoline R&P won't clean intake valves. It might reduce buildup due to cleaning piston rings, decreasing blow by, and a few other things. But as far as I know, won't do anything for intake valve buildup.
