Can these be used for smoking a brisket in a regular gas grill, or are they not that effective?

I've seen videos of people using these in a "smoke box" on a gas grill with a brisket... tbh if you're worried about cost, you'd likely have better results getting a Weber charcoal grill use the snake method and some wood chunks... there are comparison videos out there though.
