That's a Premier series. Made in Indonesia instead of Korea. D'Angelico's Indonesia-made instruments are actually pretty high quality, so it's not a bad thing necessarily. But the Excel is also better appointed with Duncan 59s, coil split, and an included hardcase.

Open-Box is even cheaper at $684.99 It's marked as "mint" but the guitar's I've purchased from them in Mint, weren't even open. Just a way to get around selling under MSRP.

Very nice instrument. Wish I could play well enough to justify it.

D'Angelicos go for pretty big big discounts sometimes relative to other brands, and this vendor is a big one that does blowout sales for them. It might have something to do with them both being based in NYC.

This is about as good of a deal you will ever see on a professional 335 style guitar. The Seymour Duncan 59 humbuckers are fantastic copies of PAF's that are in Les Pauls or a 335.

If you could buy a nice(r) car would you not buy it because you can't drive well enough? ;-) A nicer guitar can and will entice you to play more and playing more is the gateway to getting better. Just my opinion, based on my experience. YMMV

Must.... resist....

I have two D'Angelico's and they're both very high-quality. Probably as good as American made Gibsons for a fraction of the price. Just don't have the same brand cachet.

You guys are killing me. I couldn't get one on their site but I did get it off Reverb same seller. I think its time to sell a few to make room.

2 USA Seymour Duncan pickups, Ebony fretboard and a hardshell case make this a killer deal. Easily beats the Epiphones being pushed on us for similar prices.
