I recently bought this as a first time owner of a row machine. It seems good. I'd recommend looking to proper rowing technique so you can hit the ground running. I didn't, but I got a good arms work out, but I didn't utilize the full potential.

Assembly is easy. Everything is provided, but you might want a power drill to speed things up. Everything is labeled with a simple shadow of the part in case you get mixed up.

It's pretty quiet. My first newb session was pretty good, but I didn't look up the proper technique before hand.

They recommend new people to do 10 to 15 minutes. At first, at the hardest setting, I thought it was crazy weak and super easy. Then a minute passes. Then two. I was going for 10 minutes and I was sweating in the last few. It works.

I bought this October 29th last year at full price. I have no experience with any other rowing machine, but I have used it every single day since it arrived on November 2nd. I am pleased with it. It's not super fancy. The screen is very basic and distance is tracked in miles not kilometers. I wanted an inexpensive machine to get used to, so I could decide if I wanted something nicer in the future. It has different settings for tension(?). I am not sure of the correct terms, but I started on the highest setting and forced myself to adapt, so I don't know if the different settings actually work. The seat is hard plastic, so I ended up buying a cushion for it. I am down close to 30 lb. plus increased muscle. After breaking my foot and still needing surgery, I needed something that wouldn't cause additional damage while getting a decent workout and creating a positive habit. So far I haven't had any issues with it other than the strap getting off track a few times during one session. This was and wasn't the machines fault. I was having a very weak day and my form was off, causing it to wrap back into the machine incorrectly. I could see this being an issue in the future if I am not paying attention. It was fixed by just pulling the bar out as far as it would go, and letting it wrap correctly. I think it could have been a bigger issue though, if it got stuck wrong. I am also pretty tall, so I feel like my knees should be lower before I start to push/pull to avoid the bar hitting them, but with no other experience, I am not sure. At the end of the day, the machine works for me. Tempted to buy a second and send it to my mom out of state, so I don't break my streak when I visit.
If you don't mind sharing, how tall are you?

Or if anyone else can chime in on how this works for a taller people, I would appreciate it. Inknow the description says a height range that makes out at 6', but does anyone over this height have any experience/review(s)?

I'm 6' 1". This is probably my issue with my knees being high. I'm making it work though, my form probably isn't perfect though.

The picture shows the track length is 44 inches, but the specs on the page shows 39 inches.
Can someone confirm?
Thank you!

i have a stationary bike. how does a row machine work out legs?
Im going to assume this is a legit question. Rowing is primarily a lower body activity AKA well over 50% of the power and thrust comes from the legs so it works the full legs.

Quote from CharlotteTremblay :
This rowing equipment or the stationary bike in flattening belly?
Your core in a row is engaged 20-25% of the time at all times with little effort, while a stationary bike does not really target anything unless you yourself do things like out of saddle riding, navel to spine motions, in which it will than engage abdominal muscles. If you just simply sit on a bike and peddle your just losing calories and working on your cardio which is just general weight loss.

I got it a couple days ago. Took maybe 30 min to unpack and put together. It looks nice, but it does feel a little cheap, but it is cheap. I only used it once so far, it fit me well (I'm 5'10"), I think I'm worried that the resistance might not be high enough. I would regularly ride an exercise bike and have very strong legs, so they do most the work on this thing. I'll use it a bit more and hopefully have more input. I could see why maybe getting a used Concept 2 might be better in the long run, but I figured that I'd give this a try and see if it's for me first.
The app is a free download, but it seems like the training videos might only be free for a limited time. Couldn't find info on a subscription though. Something to consider. I hate subscriptions.

As an alternative, please consider a used Concept 2 for the following reasons:
  • Easy to recoup your money if you decide rowing is not for you
  • Rowing mechanics are somewhat transferrable to the water
  • Machines are virtually indestructible
  • Large community to interact and track your performance against
  • Breaks down so it can be transported in most sedans
This machine has drastically improved my heart health and flexibility. The new Concept2 rowing season starts tomorrow!
Came here to say the same. I got an used Concept 2 just under $400 more than 10 years ago and it moved with me across country and it's still going strong. I've since bought and sold an elliptical machine that was taking up too much room but not planning on getting rid of the Concept 2 anytime soon. If I do decide to sell it today I'm certain I can recoup most if not all of the money I paid for it.
