Those concerned with electric cost. Get a oil or water heater. Have a fan blowing towards it to circulate the heat on low. Save a ton of money

If electricity is the direct source for the heat, it doesn't matter if its a heating coil with a fan, oil, water, or anything else, the amount of energy needed to heat a room to a temperature will be the same regardless of the intermediate method of heat transfer. The amount of electrical energy is the same regardless of the type of heater. A heat pump is really the only way to be more efficient since they move heat from outside to the inside via a pump versus generating it directly via resistive heating.

On a carpeted floor? It's fine. My first one was used in my home w carpet, zero issues. These are the best space heaters I've used.

100%. Oil/water just has resistive heating elements in a fluid, and a larger area to dissipate the heat, so it doesn't get hot spots like a forced-air heater (the air is to cool down the hot coil). Oil is nice for quiet/fanless heat, but 1 Watt = 3.4BTU of heat, whether it's air, water, or oil using a resistive load to convert that electric energy to heat.

Running a high power computer, TV in a windowless room (the light and sound is some energy that can escape), or a resistive-element oven or stove will do the same thing. 1 Watt = 3.4BTU. I get about 700W of heat for the 4-hours that it takes to boil/distill a gallon of water. In the winter I normally generate 2-3 gallons a day/night, when I remember to refill the distiller during the day. There are better or more enjoyable ways to generate heat than a boring wire coil that does nothing except heat up.
