Understandable, you have to be able to appreciate the details and take your time in order to enjoy this kind of game. If you can do that, this game is definitely one of the best of its kind out there. If you're someone who likes to just jump immediately into the action, this isn't really it.

If the story fails to grip you from the start then it's a pain in the arse. It's like the length of a movie. Of course many will Say "oh it gets better after that chapter" but if you have 30 minutes to a night and you can either have fun or slog through something for 2-3 days to HOPEFULLY like it later on, can't blame them if they stop. I recommend they slog Through it tho cause it is a great game.
I love Metal Gear but i still shutter at the thought of restarting MGS5 because of the intro and that's me loving the game.

That truth hurts. I didn't play the story the first time (same reason as you). I got a new pc and wanted to play, got fed up with online cheaters went off line back to story and stuck with it. (I am going to say the line) it was worth sticking through the start.

Try the new game that released called Crimson Desert. It's like the Witcher 3 and RDR2 without the boring cutscenes.
