Why choose such an aggressive tread pattern for a RAV4? Louder, and less mileage.
I can understand that some truck owners use their trucks off the main roads or need the aggressive tread for Winter if they have only RWD.
I'm getting a Woodland which comes with all terrains anyway, and there have been remarks that these Wildpeaks are quieter. They've also got the all weather severe snow rating too where the OEM tires do not (Dunlop Grandtrek - but they probably won't be bad in snow either).
Granted, I might just end up putting Crossclimate2's on it like so many others seem to do vs having a dedicated set of snow tires. That'd probably boost efficiency a bit and still do really well in snow. Honestly, I'm not overly concerned about efficiency though given that at almost 40mpg combined, it's already twice the fuel economy of my current vehicle.
I have these on a 1st gen 4runner. They are about as good of a a/t as you will ever get. No noise, great on road behavior, perform like a m/t when aired down.

For our RAV4 I purchased 17" steel wheels from the LE model and put these tires on them. I went with 245/65 17 which is the biggest you can go without modifications. It gives you a bigger sidewall and are wider. I throw them on when we go off-grid camping or up to the snow. They're great!The rest of the time we're riding around on the all seasons because they're quieter, better mpg & last longer.

Yeah.. I've historically had a separate set but this last winter driving my new Grand Highlander with its OEM all seasons was pretty tolerable.. so I think if I throw some Crossclimate2s or have a decent set of A/T on the RAV4 I'll be all good. I don't necessarily love having to store a second set of tires/wheels in my garage or the space it takes up.
