This 8,000 BTU unit will work fine in a small or medium room. But if you're really fighting some major heat, or need to cool a large living room or the like - you might want to consider a 12,000 BTU unit.

Would this work in a two car garage in Texas? I'm thinking not, but just wanted to ask.

I bought this for $200 at the end of last year so wait if you can. Works well. Quiet with a DC motor. Matter support if that's important for you.

It's designed for 350Sqft. If your garage is insulated above it should be fine. Maybe not cold but cooler and dryer. You may need to insulate your garage door and add some insulation around the window exhaust plate to minimize heat transfer.

Sadly returning mine.

I want to run in the bedroom overnight. Set to 74, low fan. It will not do it; and its a Hisense design.

if you have a room like a garage where the off/on doesn't matter, sure. But I wanted steady temp and white noise; this one fails at that.

If you want a fan on all the time; this is not the model for you.

Bought one of these last year. It lasted about 2.5 months before it stopped working all together. It also could not keep an about 175sqft room cool in central FL

It's $225 for 'refurbished excellent' on Amazon, and I'm considering. Unfortunately I have large windows that slide open horizontally, so window units will not work without heavy modification. I figure this will be enough for a 150 sq ft bedroom, but do wonder how loud the fan is, it shows 42db on 'quiet' mode. Tough to beat new at costco with costco's legendary return policy, though. It doesn't sound like these types of appliances have a very long lifespan, in general.
It shows they are in stock at my Costco, but it may be online only price.

With the inverter would this be okay for a smaller room like 100 sqft?

imo bite the bullet and get a heat pump. even a small one room one. yea its more expensive including install but 100x more effective and does the heat too. i've done my share of space/window acs and it isnt very effective
