I haven't had an msi for a few years but mine was rock solid gaming in it for 40 hours a week for 6 years. It had a 1070 in it. I can't say the same about my 3070 legion. The Lenovo has had 5 main board replacements in 5 years.

This model on the post just came out. But I got the raider 18 hx with 5090 last month from Costco. The build quality feels nice. I use a cooling pad. The only thing I don't like about the one I have is that the track pad isn't centered to the keyboard space button so my palm is always sitting on the track pad and it throws things off. This one looks like it centered. I might return the one I have and go with this.

Wait - what is the catch that I'm missing here ? A super reasonably priced gaming laptop with a 5080, 32GB ram, and OLED screen for just 2300 in 2026 ?? Is this even possible ?

This one doesn't seem to be centered either.

Same frustration here with my msi.

Trying to figure that out myself.. also has the 290, which is slightly faster than the 285...

Yeah, you're right, just took a closer look at the pics. Terrible design flaw. Have you noticed unregistered taps with yours or is it just me thinking I did tap but didn't?

This is the deal price that happens often.


I got $1750 HP Omen version with similar specs with 32GB and 5080 and OLED when it was Bestbuy OpenBox also.

Like keyboard issues? oh that would drive me crazy. I can't stand it even with just the space bar that I cannot hit the left side. I only ever hit the space bar on the right and I couldn't adjust to use my right thumb and I threw away a keyboard once for that reason.

Luckily I bought it from Costco and still have some time to return it. The only problem I'm running into is finding a replacement with the specs it has. The TB5, 285, 5090 and pcie5 are key specs

The trackpad doesn't always register when you tap, I haven't noticed anything with the keyboard.. so far..
I ended up just turning the trackpad off and using a mouse when I'm in the office because my palm would rest on the trackpad and throw things off
