it's a very solid performer for it's price point. it had some bad reviews from Rtings (bad reviews as is they used bad testing methodology) and some brightness issues that was fixed via firmware, but it's a side step and slight improveemnt over the 90L.....in this price range I'd say it sits between the TCL QM6K and QM7K for picture quality, just with better colors and better processing. the QM7K has better HDR though due to better brightness. but it's $100 more AND doesn't come with the costco 5 year warranty, so weigh that into your value ratings

If you can afford it...get the Bravia 7. (A mid-tier Hisense & TCL will best this TV.)
I used to be a huge Sony fanboy. Nowadays The Sony Tax is just not worth it anymore.

I used to be in the electronic business.
People treat Rtings as if it were the holy bible of TV ratings.
Some years ago, they gave a mediocre rating to TV with an excellent picture quality and inky black levels.
The reason for the downgrade was poor viewing angles, high reflection, bad response time/lag/latency even thought the TV had a top notch picture quality and decent sound.

Rtings are for clowns who think TVs are black and white and only about brightness in different formats. And don't even get me started on tcl YouTube shills.

I agree 100%. Rtings conned me into buying a TCL
Qm7 and it was a piece of junk compared to the mid level Samsung TV (MU8500) it replaced. I returned it....after picking it up, unboxing it, mounting it, trying to get a good Pic for a week, reboxing it, and driving it back to the store. They seem to love TCL and Hisense TVs above all other brands. And TCL and Hisense do very well on their tests in which no one really knows how important most of their findings really are. I honestly think that their tests are the focus of R&D in China and they make the Chinese actually make tvs to get high marks on those tests. Longevity? I think Rtings used to include that in their reviews but since they are covertly pushing Chinese sets which last 1-3 years or so they left that out. Honestly before Rtings how many people seriously considered buying TCL or Hisense? Now you have sign up or pay to see their results....???

They are making it fairly obvious that they are nothing but cut from the fabric as the YouTube shills pushing TCL and Hisense.

Amazing price! I'm annoyed because this TV's floor was $1000 during BF, I would have immediately pulled the trigger at $700.

I settled on the TCL QM6K for $500.. it's great for the price but I watch sports and sub 1080p content and the TCL just isn't good for that.
