not really, Costco has the same deal with free ship if you have a membership there or know someone who does who can order them for you.

Not really. I have been using gen 1 since it came out and got another set with gen 2. No difference I could tell. Theoretically, the gen 2 gives you faster updates, but the difference is negligible, especially when you just want to check if your luggage is on the right aircraft.
