My son is 11yrs old as well and he's around 5ft tall. Thin and fit build and he wore this jacket in a size M last winter. About to pickup another but in a size L for next winter.

Chiming in to agree with the previous poster. My son is 11, about 4'10" and we bought him the medium last time this hit the front page. He loves it. It's warm enough for cold weather, and also light enough/compactable to squeeze into his book bag. I'm considering buying a large and just leaving it in his closet until he grows into it.
