No good for luggage. The hook is too small for the padded handles.

Most of us have an S hook or snap hook laying around that we can use for that or you can buy one for $1 at a hardware store. Great deal!

There are ones with fabric strap and buckle, much easier to weigh any size handle, if you can find one of those probably more useful but may not hold 100+ lbs which is too much for luggage anyway.

On batteries?
When you need it batteries are dead and you have to find new set of batteries.
There are few battery free devices on Amazon. Still have 20+ year old mechanical scale and it works perfectly without any batteries.

I use these to see how full my propane tanks are. I sharpie the full and empty weight right on the side and I always have very accurate measurement of how full they are.ust have for RV or BBQ

i use it for luggage .. i have a strap that i run around the hook and the handle ... works great
