This deal is live, and it works. We are buying a shed at Lowe's and were able to each get a $500 gift card for $425.

I got a $500 gift card this morning from Dollar General (it's one of those variable cards, up to $500 max) and paid with my CC. Only problem is, I tried to add to my online Lowes Wallet and wouldn't add. Kept giving an error message. So I tried checking the balance online, and it gave an error. I tried calling the phone number to check the balance, and it gave an activation error.

At this point, I was freaking the **** out as I thought I was scammed. So I called the gift card support number, and the rep told me that the gift card can't be added to your online wallet -- it can only be used in-store or online on a manual-add basis. In other words, you have to manually enter the card number for each purchase online.
So I had something I wanted to buy online anyway, and manually added the gift card number at checkout. It worked, just as he said, and it showed the correct remaining balance on the final checkout page.

To my eyes it looks like this deal should be good now through the 16th. In the ad it appears to be below the box that has the 3-day deals and so not one of those deals.
None of the stores near me have the variable load cards - just the $75 multipacks.

My experience is it depends on the amount of fraud a location experiences. In mid-Michigan near me, they all take credit card. Tried to buy some last year in South Chicago and they told me cash only.
