One small note, with AppleCare the $29 actually covers everything damaged in that same visit. So if a dog chews up one bud, you pay $29 to replace one. If both of them and the case get run over by a steamroller, the same $29 covers all three items.
I have used AppleCare for AirPods twice now, once to replace both buds only, and another time to replace the buds as well as case when I washed them (oops) and in each situation I was only charged $29.

Just bought these today! I recently bought the wf-1000xm5, great sound, definitely better sound these, but they hurt my ears, even trying numerous replacement tips. These fell much better. Although sony wins sound hands down, for comfort and sound, these will work better for me!
