I travel quite a bit, so it seems like a PC is not an option, so I am looking for a laptop to host as a RAG?
Is this a good candidate for such use?

Yes. If you like to play Baldur's Gate 3 and Black Myth: Wukong in 4K and 3D while flying or on the train (Amtrack business class with a table, not coach)
It is comparable in terms of performance to a desktop with a 5070 GPU, and about 8 to 16% faster in 4K with those 2 games above when compared to the 5070 desktop.

Other than gaming, its pretty good if you dabble in office work, programming with Node.JS, Python or LLM with AI as well, and can run Linux distributions Like Ubuntu 24.04/PoP OS very well as well.

Might be a little too bulky/heavy to carry around. I have this exact model and I'm thinking of going to a 16" after using it for a month. MSI just came out with the raider 16 Max. It has the 290 chip and the 5090. It's on sale at microcenter for 3500. Unfortunately, the specs didn't say anything about tb5 or secondary drive slot like the 18 hx.. Costco has the raider 18 for 3400, yes it's $100 more but you have 90 days to return it if you're not satisfied AND you 2 year warranty.

GeForce RTX 5090 GPU 24GB. Can at least run solid LLMs but pales compared to the 5090 32GB.
That said, 5090s are at minimum $1500, so you could say this laptop is merely $1800

I cannot find a laptop that is under 5LB for that. Good luck. might be best just to budget $3300 on Spot Instance RAG Cloud Computing

Bring back the days of SLI in laptops. Two 5090's would be killer for LLM's. You'll need a house loan to afford it and a back brace to carry it. LOL!
