The XR version has three speeds and is supposedly a bit more powerful. At this price though, I got it to keep in the kitchen for occasional fixes.

Does the XR last longer than the Max? Or is it just about the power output on the XR?

Quick note: it seems the XR was "only" 18 bucks more expensive in January of this year. So for those who really want the XR, it may be worth waiting for a deal.

XR is slightly better since it's designed for extended run time & maximum performance. Also, XR is slightly heavier, but at half the cost the Atomic is a better choice since they're both brushless.

This is quite a bit cheaper than the tool normally sells for, even during sales.

I got this as a combo with 2.0 battery and charger for $100 a couple years ago.
It is great, highly recommend. Plenty of power for most jobs. If you need more power, you either need a new blade or a different tool.
