This has never been the case. If you buy it on Newegg, they give you a key. You can hold onto the key and only apply when you need it.

$1.75 per device per year is a slammin' good deal for this level of protection. Granted, most buyers won't need 10 devices protected, but for small offices and big families it's a no brainer. I switched to Bitdefender Total back when K*spersky was banned in the states and it's done a great job.

A family of four with a computer and a smartphone each is already at 8 devices.

Can you get this and decide on the start date? I currently have a family plan unfortunately you cannot stack different plans.

This is one of the highest rated/reviewed security suites out there but be aware there are multiple tiers and although it is labeled as "Total" this is the lowest one. The company seems to have gotten quite a bit of flak about their new marketing model. That said, there is a free trial you can download to see if this product is a good fit for you. I tried it out the last time a deal was posted and decided it wasn't for me and not worth the $$$ over just having Defender. Some of the AI-enabled features are very limited in capability or technology. For example, the anti-phishing protection only works by connecting an outlook.com or Exchange account. IMAP is not supported.

I've used Bitdefender for many years. And when I buy a new subscription, like the one offered here, either it automatically is added to my current account expiration date, or sometimes I've had to contact customer support to get this done. They've always been quick and competent to do that when needed.

yeah, i also hear that it's a waste for macs. their protection is supposedly way more then enough. btw, if the "total" is the lowest, what's the highest?

I think it was something like "Ultimate Security" or something like that. Gotta love those marketing geniuses!
