I get a refillable at home depot for much less. It's about 75% full already. Then I take it to the hardware store for full refills. Tanks are always relatively new. And when they near expiration you swap for another.

About 75% full is accurate if you're talking about Blue Rhino 20lb propane tanks, which only have 15lb of propane when purchased, often for $22 or more!

Unlike getting this tank filled with 20lb of propane, often for about $14. Do the math!
The "Pro" bit is a little ridiculous tho, have to admit! We're all "Pros" FCOL!

The math works. You get a new tank and 15 lbs of propane for $22. When it's empty you refill for $14. A new tank is $45 plus $14.

Good that your hardware store refills the Blue Rhino tanks. Blue Rhino claims that their tanks have a proprietary valve that prevents that!

Btw, the $22 is the EXCHANGE price, when you surrender an empty 20lb tank. A *new* Blue Rhino 20lb tank (with 15lb of propane) goes for more like $68..!
