I bought the concentrate a long time ago. I have been using it yearly around the perimeter of the house with a pump sprayer from HD. It works great, no ants.

It's cheaper:

You should also be able to put a new AA battery in it. 2 small Phillips head screws in the base of the wand.

The active ingredient is Bifenthrin. Buy a 1 gal 7.9% Bifenthrin for $36 and mix 1 oz Bifenthrin with 1 gal of water for full strength (makes 128 gal of bug killer). Reduce concentration by 1/2 for repeat treatment to avoid bug resistance to chemical. This stuff has a shelf life of 4 years. I can split the cost with anyone that's interested in ordering Bifentrin 7.9% in S Cal. Please PM if interested.

Wand often doesn't work after a year. Can bypass it though
I tried changing the batteries and it worked ok-not great. Maybe rinse with water at end of year?

Hey what's the safety profile for use in a house with toddlers?

I'd use 1/2 strength of the 7.9% solution (1/2 oz per 1 gal). Wait for the solution to dry before introducing pet/human. Use stream instead of mist spray indoor if possible to avoid contact with skin and nose. Focus on windows and kitchen area.

I wear a bunny suit on a non-windy day when I spray 360 around the house including the garage. This is the best defense in keeping bugs out.

Safe for pets?
Bifenthrin is a pyrethroid. Pyrethroids are highly toxic to cats. Be careful using it around them.

People with cats aren't reporting any problem as long as the stuff is dry before introducing pets.

Is there a concentrate version that is for outdoor/yard use?

I have trees/woods around my house so we get lots of bugs, but it's a newer house and sealed up well and we don't get bugs inside enough to worry about. I do get them in my garage because I leave the door open often so I'd be spraying outside as well as in the garage. Thanks for the tips.

Lol, 12 months my ass. Spiders and roaches come back wayyy before then. If I'm not spraying every month or 6 weeks, there are webs everywhere. But this stuff has a long shelf life so why not get more then needed for just a year or 2.

Works very nicely for getting rid of ants when sprayed around the house's outside perimeter.

There is NO WAY I would spray any chemical, or ANYTHING from Ortho inside my house no matter what Ortho say about how safe it is. Chemicals like this generally don't cause you or your pet to throw up, keel over, and die. They infect you with long term diseases like cancer, kidney, liver, and thyroid failure issues which manifest a year or five later, and by then who the hell know what caused it?

Keep in mind, tobacco company execs swore under oath to Congress for DECADES that cigarettes don't cause lung cancer, and surprise, surprise - they knew all along it did, and conducted all their testing with their in-house attorneys in charge where the results of testing fall under attorney-client privilege and could not be subpoena'd. The scum of the earth.

Companies that make toxic chemical shit lie about everything because there's no downside to that for them. Keep that in mind.

We have huge ants every year. Is this safe for kids? Have a crawling baby and toddler. Every time I want to get a spray, family have told me it's bad for kids. I probably should look into it but never got around and just been killing them as I see them…lol
