FYI Walmart has the 1 gallon trigger for $9.42 for those who don't need 2.

I bought the concentrate a long time ago. I have been using it yearly around the perimeter of the house with a pump sprayer from HD. It works great, no ants.

It's cheaper:

You should also be able to put a new AA battery in it. 2 small Phillips head screws in the base of the wand.

Lol, 12 months my ass. Spiders and roaches come back wayyy before then. If I'm not spraying every month or 6 weeks, there are webs everywhere. But this stuff has a long shelf life so why not get more then needed for just a year or 2.
And I think that's where the problem is. You end up using 12x more than the label suggests and now you're getting into potentially toxic levels not tested for.

Does peppermint actually work?

I have found that the liquid Terro 'traps' work better for ants but this stuff is great for everything else. I also used it on my front yard boxwoods that were being killed by the invasive species boxwood moths and it worked just as good as the specialty sprays that nurseries overcharge for.

I don't care what the label says, if its water based then its gone the next rain outside. Be sure to reapply.

Is there a concentrate version that is for outdoor/yard use?
I use this outdoor only, around the perimeter of the house and fence.

We have huge ants every year. Is this safe for kids? Have a crawling baby and toddler. Every time I want to get a spray, family have told me it's bad for kids. I probably should look into it but never got around and just been killing them as I see them…lol
I wouldn't use it inside with a crawler and a toddler, no matter what Ortho or the people here say. Use it in a one foot wide lane around the the entire outside perimeter of your house, and don't let them go outside until it completely dries. Works a bit slower outside, but kills the ants just the same.

Inside, I use diatomaceous earth (food grade) to kill them. Buy a 5 lb bag and a 'puffer' at Home Depot or someplace similar to apply it where you see them come into the house. Kills them (and roaches and anything with an exoskeleton) very dead through contact, not chemicals. It looks and feels like flour, but under a microscope the edges are sharp like a buzzsaw, cuts their little legs off and they die.

Does nothing kill house centipedes? 😩
Those are the creepiest of crawlers right next to Brown Recluse and Wolf Spiders. 😱

I will also vouch for this stuff. Works well - especially with those annoying little wall spiders and ants.

Taro does work well for ants but you have to remember some kinds of ants like sweet and some like fats. If you have the kind of ants that eat fats then add a tiny amount of oil to the taro you set out.

Also the "negative" of taro is you have to put it out and then the ants will swarm and eat it. Then they bring it back to the nest and die. Fair enough but some people are grossed out by having a lot of ants they can't kill and have to leave alone so they go back to the nest

diatomaceous earth does work but the drawback is it does not work when wet and you have to let the insects or spiders or whatever crawl through it. It is not instantaneous and it takes awhile.
While using DE remember you must spread it VERY VERY thin. The bugs have to crawl through it. I've seen people put it in piles, and then the bugs will simply go around it. If the bug doesn't crawl through it, it cannot work.

This is an amazing and I would say probably the best product on the market for great price. I ignore negative comments, I use it inside and outside and never have any insects inside the house. Highly recommend this product and brand!

When I lived in S Florida, I dealt with tons of bugs. I tried this and it was OK, but far from perfect and didn't last long (maybe due to frequent rain?). I later ordered Bifen XTS 25.1% concentrate (one of the active ingredients in this product), fipronil 9.1% concentrate, and had some old Advion roach gel bait. Fipronil is an absolute beast for ants and termites. But as others mentioned, the shelf life is 3-5 years for concentrates, so it is hard to get your money's worth unless you split it or have to cover a large area.
