Cool. Not antibacterial which is what I want (safer for septic systems plus other benefits).

What makes certain soaps antibacterial? I guess I always just assumed that all soap was at least slightly antibacterial (otherwise why am I washing my hands with it...).

I bought this the last time it was posted and regret it. The scent is very strong and perfumey.

Special chemicals like triclosan that are suppose to kill bacteria instead of just washing them away.

Out of curiosity without looking it up.. how do you think soap works?

In no way do I pretend to be a soap expert, and I honestly just googled "how does soap work," but I also just learned that the FDA banned triclosan in 2016. So ... Not sure how you're using or buying antibacterial soap with that ingredient.

I didn't say I was. There are other anti-bacterial chemicals used as well... like Cetrimonium Chloride... but I am no soap expert either.

Doesn't answer your question directly, but antibacterial outside of specific needs like hospitals and around people that are immune compromised is generally regarded as bad because it may or does (ain't an expert either) lead the rise of antibacterial resistant bacteria is is bad for humans. Normal soap makes thing slippery and so dirt, grim, bacteria, and other unwanted stuff gets mostly washed away when you rinse. It doesn't -kill- the bacteria, and then your immune system takes care of the rest. Again not an expert, don't quote me.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank zmachat

Equate brand Milk and Honey from Walmart is $2.98 all the time. It might not have the luscious texture of Softsoap, but it gets your hands clean for cheaper. Save some money.
