Dewalt has better design, cause you can push down on the lever with your foot, while your holding the door steady. How you gonna do that with this model? Maybe if you have 2 peeps installing dat door.

I know trim carpenters that use these and like them a lot. I have the DeWalt because of the push down feature and they work well. I'd love to have the original Viking ones!

Thanks for pointing that out, I've had my eye on these and wasn't aware there was a different design like that.

Do any of the Amazon knock offs have the Dewalt feature where you can release with your foot?

Skip these and get the dewalts. Doing everything with your foot is well worth the extra cost.

i haven't found any amazon knock offs that operate the same way as the dewalt, they all seem to copy the irwin. i have 1 dewalt and its nice.

i also bought this 2 pack of knock offs that aren't built as tough, but work well and have more functionality.

mine does, you can step on the top to release and was like $30 for 2 holds up 200lbs, used it so many times for doors, lifting batteries, plywood, fences. You don't need the best brand to get the job done. They may be more pricier now though.

The Acme sale was legit. They just took forever to actually ship them.

It wasn't fake. Accidental? Maybe. Mine's arriving tomorrow.
