Actually it is for the old school gundam fans who grow up with the 0079 and Zeta eras. It is fully of Easter eggs and reference (from style to characters to BGM, etc) when it explore this alternative universe.

That doesn't explain why its called that, but its anime and made for a younger audience sooo I assumed it makes sense for them. I did enjoy it overall but I lost interest after a few episodes. The art style is very nice and colorful.

I think the significance of this series and what makes it special is that it was done by the same guy that made Evangelion. Because of the uniqueness of design and the fact that it's made of metal this might become a collectors item?

At its most basic level, it's a reference to computer science, but there are some additional (possible layers) that tie into the franchise as a whole and the show itself.
